i think lin and i (even azmi i dare add who suggested 'no names and brands' at all) are not interpreting the rules differently from each other so it is you who have to see the rules the way we do.

you didn't have to tell everyone that 'yesterday' is in the dictionary. the point is, you played Yesterday as a NAME and Yesterday is not recognised by the dictionary as such - not a place, not a song.

dictionary.com is not a world atlas but it does list places other than those in america. Kalahari Desert, Christmas Island, Great Barrier Reef, Yangtze River are just 4 examples. indeed, like you said, they are popular places in the world and had Yesterday Gully been in the same status, it too would appear in the dictionary.

the difference between Yesterday and Yellowstone is that only the latter is in the dictionary, referred to as a NAME.

Yellowstone National Park (there are more gullies than you can count) is in the dictionary because it is well known, not simply because it is in america. being the world's first national park and housing the exceptional old faithful led to its fame.

dictionary.com is not an american atlas either, as you had implied. remember i played Kern Mountains recently? it would have been a strike now with our present rules cuz although AMERICAN, Kern Mountains, Nevada, is NOT in the dictionary. so you're wrong there.

i have been referring and subscribing to dictionary.com for about two years now and have noted that its sources are not solely american.

you're also wrong here. two (or more) word entries are accepted by the dictionary search. try 'purple shell' or 'crazy bone' or 'to let the cat out of the bag'. don't bother checking 'purple rain' cuz it's a song and you won't find 'crazy man' either cuz 'crazy' is an adjective hence too many nouns may follow.

you agreed with the rules and by agreeing, you should have realized that the eligibility of putting names in this game is now extremely limited. Yesterday is one of those names not accepted. as i remember it, you yourself said on the tagboard "ok, dictionary da judge".

ps: i already know about "quotation marks", but thanks anyway

The both of you are interpreting the rules way differently. All I need is the gully connection is a Y word. I added the word Yesterday to the gully. I did not even need a sentence. AND the word Yesterday is in the dictionary. I need not have the word Yesterday gully as one. Like there is no Yellowstone Gully!! Its a park. Dictionary.com do not handle two words search e.g purple rain, crazy man etc. Unless it is an AMERICAN named and American in Geography chances are only the popular places in the world will be listed and of course even the extremely obscure ones in the States.

FYI, inverted commas are far more effective than the + sign.

Dictionary .com is american. Of course u can get Yellowstone park ( which is a name too and yes in america). As much as i wanted put Yellowstone park i'd rather Yesterday gully which just so happen to be in Victoria, Australia and its a much easier word and its connection is so blatant. You'd really think the american linguist wanna place sumthin' aussie in an american webbie? My contribution was Yesterday, a word so easily found in any engllish speaking dictionary including the one we are using.

killdeers nest on the ground and they RUN around a lot. run, baby, run... but not the nose

samedi, mars 22

the KILLDEER is commonly sighted at the geysers of yellowstone national park, ruffled feathers and all...

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK. besides watching geysers and crossing over gullies, another thing you should do if you were there is kayaking at the yellowstone lake and rivers

gorblogs of the blog, keeping tabs on words that have been played. our forbidden italic words, if we picked a word that had been in play, there's no prob except that our block-word goes to waste like L who burned her blocks twice already. for our CAPS word, if the word was already played, then kena strike. to make sure that a word has never been in play, before you make an entry, take a moment to utilize the search "Show posts containing" located at the bottom right of the page where you post your posts. everyone's on their own. if you slip, you kena strike. hmm... shall we minus one point also? ok, another poll. i say yes, -1 point if one played a used word (CAPS only, not italics). A & L, pls vote you pendiams

what is execrable is EXTRACTING themselves and allowing the war to kickstart. Hans Blix and the UN should be ashamed. Them leaving Iraq was like a green light. U.S dared not attack if they are still in the vicinity despite the ultimatum. Gutless. the people who have the power could not even help.

I agree on da rules. worda can be used only once. but who's gonna keep tabs??. ..i used the word "evil' before.

Not so agreeable on gorblog S-shit. coz "too much' (superfluous) would be the operative term as oppose to shit. but if the other two gorblogs are agreeable on that , i'm cool.

OHHH, I see, the main objecive is for people to stumble on the the webbie , regardless. Here I was, thinking u wanted people to visit both your sites for a regular thingie like liquid gen or mr. twig. keep gorblogs A, L and me posted with the hits and (mis)hits as to why they clicked so we can laugh too. HAAHAHAHAHA.

EXECRABLE, it is. sigh... so evil

a lot of terrible things are happening. it's so extreme the actions taken on Iraq

SHIT, slang as in there's too much shit going on in this world. Question, can we play words which were once forbidden? it happened once before with extinguish, first it was a forbidden word (L's extinguished), the second time it appeared was as the word-in-play (L's extinguishes). can i put surplus instead of shit? that answers my question. we don't want a cycle do we? wanted to put 'tax' cuz most ppl say shit when they kena tax but tax was once forbidden (twice shy?). so my forbidden shit is turd.

gorblogs, our rules from what i gather from our scattered proposals are thus
1. if it ain't in dictionary.com, it shouldn't be here.
2. brands listed at dictionary.com are acceptable.
3. names listed there are acceptable but they must be in full following this order: first name (middle name) surname.
4. compounds, acronyms, titles, phrases, idioms, hyphenated words… as long as they're recognized by dictionary.com, they're in.
5. words can be played just once.

all agree? i'll publish the rules below the tagboard.

R, that's the point of putting 'curz' words – to get google hits from visitors while we laugh at their keywords. we want visitors to come here by chance so the more times we appear on the search engines, the more hits we're bound to get. it's hilarious as lin and i can testify. yes the words lin and i put are cheap but no matter what site you have, there're always accidental visitors who come expecting cheap. it's foolery for the fun of it. names, have you tried googlism.com? your name most prob takde but you can have fun with other people's. azmi, you should try it if you haven't already

I googled our names. Gorblog A and S have gezillion searches found. basically due to the spelling of my name ppl know who I am. Anonymity gonders. That aside gorblog L and yours truly searches are easiest shots to the webbie.

Altho the words u ppl chose, yield more gezillion-mejillion seaches than our names combined. MUAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

i would say SUPERFLUOUS. to live in moderation, thats what we are preached...too over the over would be Sinful..

What if we have a hyphenated word?? foodz for thotz?

yuletide is the time for an EXCESS in everything. spending, food, cooking, eating, drinking... surplus everywhere

mercredi, mars 19

toys galore at YULETIDE, a time esp for kids. they'll be tired of the toys by eastertide and go telur hunting instead.

lin, your 'young' was redundant cuz the word had been in play before so we can't use it anyway.

continuing lin's list... fuck photographs photos images gallery cock big breasts nudity panties dildo cum anal girls angels... and for possible hits from the peninsula and the islands, telanjang terlanjang jilat puki konek besar lobang lubang cium cipap korek romen lidah panjang main main gadis manja liwat rogol cerita lucah pelacur buah dada bodek kotek tetek gambar siti nurhaliza bogel apa lagi sila sambung

mardi, mars 18

trucks make me think of KIDDY toys, them young 'uns...

this is just to add words to put our blogspot on surfers' search results. ehehe...
sex, suck, dick, tits, nipples, gay, straight, orgy, hot, sexy, nude, nubile, naked, teens, inter-racial, asian...

dimanche, mars 16

way before there was kenworth, kawasaki or whatever we have now... there was only the HACKNEY. of course, it made a yomp pretty impossible...

and yes, tagboard suffices. the other thing made me feel like a technobimbo. although the simpsons have done it, yes, we'll go ahead with voting MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

so we can play brands KENWORTH..the mack daddies. u can google to the kenworth (Homepage)

On the shoot ur mouth box: Me thinkz the tagboard is sufficient. Altho I like more pro functionz.
On the gameplan: The idea of voting as oppose to have too many ground rulez is for the FUN. if clinical is what we strive for, it wil be Major EEWW. a game is more fun with (Professor) Chaos and the sidekick (Genera)l Disarray. MUAHHAHAHHA. Whatz this of more debates?? YIPEEEE!

samedi, mars 15

i see exhaust, i see tires/tyres and i see a TRUCK polluting for kilometers

i've added a comments link below. it will appear on every post of ours but it isn't automatic - i'll have to insert the code manually and since i'm on the net everyday and have the most time, i'll add the link to all your posts*. the reason i've added it is to tidy up and consolidate comments. eg, when ris and i have another "debate" (and i'm sure we will, haha...) we can just keep the issue at one place and continue the discussion from there. i think it's especially useful when we have to vote. we'll see if this comments thingie works. kalau under utilized, we'll drop it.

to deplete the resources is also to EXHAUST it. but it not necessarily tires anyone...

jeudi, mars 13

sorry braders, DEPLETE does not go with yawn, so you're deleted.

mi, i know yankee is in the dictionary. i mentioned it cuz it is after all, a name. anyway. eh, you mean kita ban names as in only people's names rite? cuz that's what i agree on. people's names and brands. countries, cities, starsigns etc semua boleh rite?

ris, ya lor, it'd be a waste to eliminate names but we'll have one confusion less, as azmi puts it. at least we're not following the scrabble rule. you can still put virgo :)

yawn first... NAP second. Power nap da best.
Maybe we can be stricter on certain points but to totally eliminate the name category would be a waste, given our entertainment knowledge. The snags along the way can be settled with votes since there are three of us judging .No deadlock. Unless someone pulls a Paula Abdul. Multiple or hyphenated words should be allowed too coz this one time at band camp..hmm ( wrong script) coz it adds more flava to the java. i would say anithing goes but if its questionable . VOTE! VOTE!.

mercredi, mars 12

Sam by the way yankee is in the dictionary.......u can have an empty yawn can't you?? and it's sure a sign that you need some nourishment

lundi, mars 10

DEPLETE runs on empty

gorblog "no-opinion" L, i take it you agree with A's suggestion as i do? must count votes to apply rules leh. dictionary.com, how?

i wasn't sure of my desiccated spelling. turns out, there're 3 spellings: desiccate, desicate and dessicate

if cannot put dry, i put DEHYDRATED lor... but u all cannot put drained ah!

arid is DESICCATED, desiccated is dry.

azmi, you did play Yankees but yes, i agree with you. let's ban peoples' names and brands. and titles. names with basis? shall we all refer to the same source? we use dictionary.com as our bible. if a name's not there, the name shouldn't be here

Arid is the plains of Nevada cos' they suffer a lot of drought

in regards to point one..I never knew that we could use people's name in the game...just played along since u guys were using it..but u can see that I didn't use any names if I can remember correctly...I would like to suggest no names or brands with no basis in any dictionary should be played...so just stick with words notbrand/names I guess it's better and it would end all the confusion.

samedi, mars 8

the kern mountains, NEVADA. the state touches part of its border with arizona.

vendredi, mars 7

in gangs of new york, i saw a KERN too many... and a nincompoop or two

jeudi, mars 6

yank lawson did most of his recordings in NEW YORK. from ny... the knicks.

R, siapa marah? did u laugh or were u livid when the characters in the movie said "jangan marah ah..."

Gorblogs, we have to set rules for the game to flow smoothly.

1. when we play people's names in this game, when do we use full names and when do we ok a surname? are we allowed to put george b. or tony b. just cuz we prefer the b to the h/r? warren g and kenny g are allowed cuz they're known as such. my point is, we cannot suka2 initialize a name, or use a surname, and then back to a full name when we face a challenge. i say from now on, we use full names (unless of course, madonna, shakira, cher and their likes). shall we all just agree on this and continue with the game?

2. L once beeped me for putting "star spangled banner". i wanted to beep R's NHP but decided to let it pass. where do we stand with using titles or names? my vote is, we can use a title; no matter if the title consists of 10 words.

3. i am still against the idea of associating a brand/name to another brand/name. reason: it's too easy and too lame. R once put "american". it would then be acceptable had i followed it with "nigerian", based on the obvious category. or yank lawson, where naming another music performer (not jazz cuz genre is ridiculously out, according to L and R) beginning with N would have been no problem. A has not said anything regarding this topic but L and R, do reconsider.

play the game tactically, not whimsically. comments please, in numbers 1, 2, 3. and add other rules if you see fit

mercredi, mars 5

"sunday" is a title of a song. the artist "Yank Lawson" cannot use the name (Nick).

OMG HAHAHA. Firstly. siapa marah? did u laugh or were u livid when the character in the movie said
"hey hey hang jebat..."? and I know the goodall is the surname which in ang moh term would be goodall J ..I EXPLAINED that in the first sentence. I know goodall is the SURname. I was going for the ghetto/pop as in Ali G, Mel B, Mell C (now pretty boobsy). Jon B, Chuck D, Warren G, Kenny G, Gina G. etc etc.just search at Go's old webbie. I am aware that we used surnames before. However, the usage of (stanley)kubrick or jane(goodall) would be immaterial coz the four of us still know who we are talking about. my suggestion is continue sunday . i am game if no one is up for any Y word. As for G or L for Dr. jane, i have no probs. Disclaimer: still not angry coz i have no idea how u read my tone.

apa ni?! jangan marah ah doctor jane goodall. full name is one thing (the previous names we played have always been surnames but if we were to accept, it'd be dr j. goodall, NOT dr. jane g.) and taking the G instead of L? kelakar ka pah? it is. no haps, no happen. that's not the rule of the game. that's a definite strike from me and i'm pretty certain the other 2 gorblogs will not accept either. A & L, if you by any crazy chance accept dr. jane g., carry on. if not continue with my N instead. i.e. if we're not continuing with 'sunday'. i've no qualms about giving my 1pt back as long as sunday is continued, and then we'll call the whole anthropology thing off. you guys weren't around and L and i wanted to play.

DARWIN with 'the descent of man', is a naturalist

Dr. Jane G. . i am using the initial G instead of L in her full surname. More haps and not overbearing. cannot use (gallant) in her pursuit, AND since we were in bali, ur point not counted. i would've played it on any given sunday.

mardi, mars 4

ANTHROPOID, isn't it? i'm giving away this as a bonus. can't think of a d-word i wanna rule out.

i think it's a dead end too. i get a point then :)
i've no other ideas for a new game so if we're playing a new round of the same, the second child is the GORILLA from the ape family

lundi, mars 3

dead end, isn't it? time to start a new round? new game, anyone?
